Alliance Tournament - Banning

I had this great post about the new banning rule, however the rule has now been removed. I can understand why. Although the rule could have made for some interesting matches, in general it moved teams towards less innovative setups and also would have sucked for the poor player who was banned. C'est la vie.

  1. IMO, it was insufficiently nuanced in approach. If there were less-crippling effects such as "At the start of the match, you may nominate a member of the enemy team. At your discretion, they will start with either 25% armor, 25% shields or 25% capacitor. This will cost you half the points cost of that ship as a penalty, rounded down." then you'd see a lot more support for the 'player-directed nerf' approach.
